Often found strolling local costal areas, armed with a film camera in hand, Monique weaves through the places of her being, zoning in and out of the smaller details, picking up and forever preserving what catches her eye. Primarily using shallow depth of field to expose the intensity of emotion and experience, the use of black and white in Monique’s work also brings space to slow for the beauty in the details of the everyday.
Based in Waihi Beach, New Zealand, Monique is formally trained with a Bachelor of Design majoring in Photography from Massey Wellington, and a Masters in Photography and the Book from the University of Plymouth, England. She is currently living out her dream as a Biodynamic Farmer, and working towards a self-sufficient lifestyle next to the ocean.
